Oregon's Week 8 Depth Chart

CJ Verdell takes over as starting running back against Washington State

After being named the Pac-12 offensive player of the week, running back CJ Verdell has officially taken over as Oregon’s starting running back — announced by the Ducks’ depth chart ahead of their matchup with No. 25 Washington State this weekend. Kickoff is set for Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and will air on FOX.

Verdell ran for 111 yards on 29 carries and two scores against hated-rival Washington. In his three Pac-12 games this year, Verdell is averaging 110.7 yards on 19.3 carries and one touchdown.

Senior Tony Brooks-James, the starter to begin the year, takes over as the backup to Verdell. Brooks-James missed the game three weeks ago against Cal and although he saw time as a kick returner, he didn’t log a single carry against Washington. Freshman Travis Dye is listed as an “OR” backup alongside Brooks-James.

Penei Sewell is still listed as the starting left tackle but Oregon announced he’s going to miss the next six weeks with a high ankle sprain. His listed backup is George Moore or Steven Jones but after watching practice this week, it appears the Ducks are moving right tackle Calvin Throckmorton to left tackle and using his backup, Brady Aiello, as the new starting right tackle.

Safety Jevon Holland is listed as a backup behind Ugochukwu Amadi, despite starting aside Amadi last week.
