Report: OT Jared Veldheer informed Patriots he plans to retire

The 31-year-old offensive tackle has decided to call it a career just a couple of days into OTA's.

Offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, who the New England Patriots signed this offseason, has informed the team that he plans to retire, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

At 31-years-old, Veldheer received a $750,000 signing bonus when he signed with New England. He will likely owe that money back to the team when he retires, which could reflect towards the Patriots' 2019 salary cap, giving them a bit more money to sign another free agent.
