A Jersey Guy and The Locksmith Pick 6: Week 11

More picks by A Jersey Guy and The Locksmith, but with a new battle plan

Another week of .500 results, which isn't the worst thing when you are picking games against the spread, but we can do better than that. The Locksmith was also 1-1, having too much faith in the Ohio State defense. So we move on as the games and teams dwindle down to a Final Four.

But, following the advice of veteran college football observer, we are going to fiddle with the odds and follow the trend in college football and go strictly Over/Under in our picks Let's see what happens. It is time to make a move.

THE PICKS

A Jersey Guy

Syracuse at Louisville 0/U 68.5

Syracuse is a solid team that is going to have some major challenges the next few weeks in dealing with Notre Dame and Boston College, both away from the Dome. Louisville is horrible and defenseless, look for the Orange to win with lots of points on the board by both sides. Taking the Over

The Score

Syracuse 47, Louisville 24

Mississippi at Texas A&M O/U 67

Not much at stake here other than that the winner becomes bowl eligible with 6 victories. Edge to Aggies, but Ole Miss can score and can not play defense. Good combo for the Over.

The Score

Texas A&M 45, Ole Miss 30

BYU at UMass O/U 59.5

UMass needs to win out to reach 6 wins, but the Minutemen finish next week at Georgia, while BYU is 4-5 and needs 3 wins to break the .500 mark and must deal with New Mexico State and a road game at Utah, so the Cougars need a win on Saturday. They should get it, but UMass can produce points, which is why we like the Over.

The Score

BYU 49, UMass 35

Mississippi State at Alabama O/U 52.5

Bama is a scoring machine, but Miss State can play some defense, so we are hedging here and (nervously) taking the under in this one..

The Score

Alabama 41 Miss State 10

San Jose State at Utah State O/U 62.5

San Jose State has its victory and Utah State is playing for wins and recognition (outside shot at getting a New Year's 6 bowl slot if UCF stumbles. Take the Over

The Score

Utah State 48, San Jose State 17

TCU at West Virginia O/U 56

West Virginia is in the hunt for a Final Four bid and TCU is stumbling. Plus WVA QB Will Grier can pick apart anyone. Lots of points. Pick the Over.

The Score

West Virginia 42, TCU 20

Last week: 3-3

Season to Date: 29-30-1

The Locksmith

Ohio State over MICHIGAN STATE, giving 3 1/2Too much ongoing faith in the Buckeyes? Maybe. But they do have their sights set on making a run at a playoff berth and they are overdue for a solid performance. Michigan State's limited offense, with erratic QB Brian Lewerke back starting, may be just what the Buckeyes' struggling defense needs. And being away from home, free of the accompanying pressure, should help -- especially since Ohio State has won its past six trips to East Lansing. WEST VIRGINIA (home) over, TCU, giving 11 1/2Mountaineers should be emboldened by their victory at Texas last week and by returning home, especially against what has become a mediocre TCU team that needed a missed PAT to beat K-State and snap a three-game losing streak last week. WVU has a hot QB in Will Grier; the Horned Frogs have two struggling ones prone to turnovers. Not convinced this TCU defense can slow West Virginia's high-powered offense.

LAST WEEK: 1-1 SEASON TO DATE VS. SPREAD: 12-8
