Barrett Pitner is Mr. Soccer, and as an Atlanta native, he has more than a few thoughts on the present and the future of Atlanta United, the defending Major League Soccer champions.

They've got a new coach. They've lost a key player from last year. They're trying to recover after dropping their MLS season opener 2-0 Sunday in Washington.

In addition to soccer, Pitner is a prolific political commentator and columnist whose work spans from MSNBC to The BBC to the Huffington Post. He also is finishing a feature-length documentary called "Altars: A cross culture day of the dead."
